The Insight mechanic was such a cool idea. It really helped sell the transition from gothic horror to Lovecraft. It all just seemed like werewolves and monsters until oh shit, horrors from beyond!

In the 80's and 90's, arcade games all had that “Winners Don’t Do Drugs” splash screen with the logo of the Department of Justice.
“Also, what was the deal with that kid again?”
“A thought in his head in NO way affects you.”
Still mad Femshep can’t romance Tali.
Alas, Project Phoenix. One of the first, and last, Kickstarters I ever backed. Learned my lesson.
Jesus. I tackled Radahn after the nerf, and I still got my ass kicked a few dozen times, even with summoning all the NPC's. Eventually had to lean on a summoned player to get through it. Can't imagine how it could've been any harder.
I’m about 40 hours in, and I am enjoying it, but there are plenty of rough edges that could be sanded without ruining the Souls experience. A few:
Wondering if the super low playerbase is due to terrible marketing. The only advertising I saw for the game was a few five-second Youtube ads that consisted of random CG and the voiceline “You survived and became a Sentinel.” No gameplay, no context of who survived what or what a Sentinel is or what any of this means…
Tried it, but wasn’t for me. Like Steep when it first launched, there seemed to be no real consistency to how jumps and tricks worked. I could hit a jump at a certain speed, wind up, and do a flip, then hit the same jump at the same speed and barely rotate at all. Sometimes I would get big air and barely manage a 180,…
Yeah, it was pretty easy. Need a leader? Garrus. Need a Biotic? Samara. Need an infiltrator? Legion. These were not difficult decisions. I think *maybe* the riskiest choice I made when I first played it was having Zaeed escort people back to the ship, but the dude’s a grizzled veteran, I figured he could take care of…
I think Witch Queen being one of the highest-selling titles on Steam, despite not even being out yet, is a pretty good indicator that the game’s still going strong. And going F2P with Beyond Light brought in a ton of people.
People who feel that way probably aren’t playing it anyway, so who cares?
Releasing 3 would’ve meant staying with Activision, staying on their crunch schedule, and leaving everything in D2 behind, which they already said they (and players) hated doing to D1.
“Why play when nothing you do will matter?”
“ You never actually bought anything but the right to play what they say you can play and they can take it away from you whenever they want.”
Can’t speak to Vanguard (and God willing, I’ll never need to), but I completely agree with your take on Call of Duty 2, especially the Normandy landing. CoD2 was the game I brought home with my launch XBox 360, and after playing for about an hour, I turned it off and walked out of the room in a daze. It was the first…
Unpacking does an amazing job of telling its story through the mechanics, and this level is a perfect example of how. Trying to make room for your things in this level communicates so much about you, about him, about your relationship, about your life, all without a single word.
I tried out FC5 when it had a free weekend a few weeks ago, and I quit about an hour in, right after I had to climb a radio tower to fill out my map. Again.
I respectfully disagree.
