Jezebel tends to cover issues that make women feel "empowered" rather than give them actual power. This is a classic example of that.

"This obvious mistake is intentional!"
Giant had stores where I lived in Pennsylvania. Define "local."
It's not local, it just has different names in other parts of the country. In California, Giant is either Ralph's or Vons, can't remember which. Same with Safeway.
I went to Howard School of Law and several of my classmates were white. I know for a fact that the undergrad division has white students enroll every year. It's not that big a deal.
I can't be the only one thinking this:
did my time as a design intern doing jobs like this. can confirm this is probably what happened... some 20-year-old temp had to plug and chug 500 different college names into a template by close of business so it could go to print.
I am so upset that this stock photograph a grocery store chain used in hundreds of bland advertisements didn't change for one particular school. It's almost as if when some intern retyped various names of colleges over and over they didn't stop to think about Howard or its values.
They already apologized for it. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. Do people expect a large grocery chain to customize their ads based on the racial composition of the nearest university?
Oh for fuck's sake. Wah, people. Wah.
I think it would be racist to stereotype Howard students as black. Racism!!!!
Jeez, liberals, make up your mind. First you're whining about minorities being underrepresented, then, when someone finally makes an ad representing the underprivileged minority population at Howard you get all up in arms...
If it weren't for upper middle class white women who would look out for the interests of all minorities?
Hamilton Nolan objects to your simplistic view of HBCs.
How else will they know where the white women at?
I also presume her to be entitled and the type of roomate that would cover the house in passive aggressive post its before looking you in the eye and telling you to do your dishes. She may even post pics of your dirty underwear on her facebook and tag you on them.
I completely agree and find the support of this presumptuous public shaming blog to be an affront to feminism.
That and I honestly don't think it is just a male problem. I try to take up more space on public transit just so people won't sit by me- when it is half full. One too many annoying talkers does that too you. Plus everyone want to be comfortable- not just men. I'm sure if she tried she could find examples of women…
Seriously. I looked at the page and was like wtf are you complaining about? Why not pick an actual issue? I sit like this on buses if it's not full so people won't sit next to me- even on planes when I fly southwest. If it's full then I move over. Ps I am a woman- and can still take up a lot of space when I want.
Yes, thank you! I am so not comfortable with telling men how to sit on empty subway cars because I'm projecting complex notions about 'dominance' and 'toxic masculinity' onto a simple display of physical comfort . There are enough real examples of those attitudes in day-to-day life that we don't need to start policing…
