Given that we know for a fact that Harvard doesn’t contract with them, I’ll say that I don’t really see the point of bringing this up since it’s not relevant to the conversation we’re having about the situation at Harvard.

I wasn’t trying to say that you didn’t know it was about minimum wage. You just kind of posted it at the bottom of your post without explaining why it was there. I wasn’t really sure what point you were making, but it makes sense now.

That article is in regards to a minimum wage, which has at least a dozen different things from a free floating wage (which is what these workers are asking for). It doesn’t apply here at all. I’ve brought this up in other comments, but the biggest problem for these workers asking for more is that other food service

Different kind of market, but this made me laugh.

Nowhere did I say the minimum wage is going to be $35k. Like you said, the minimum wage is legislated, and these workers aren’t taking their issue up with the state legistaure, they’re taking it up with the school. So other workers are free to come in and offer to work for less, which is exactly what I was saying will

Or we could just look at the market for food service jobs in the area. These people could quit the job at Harvard and go work at a restaurant, or a caterer, or a fast food joint. But they don’t, because those people don’t get paid $35k either.

Harvard can afford to pay these people a million dollars a year. It doesn’t mean they should. The burden in my opinion is on the workers, who as of yet in their lives have not acquired the skills to qualify themselves for a job that should in no way pay much more than minimum wage. Sorry, this sounds very cold, but

I don’t want to pull this card, but I have a graduate degree in economics (which is why HamNo usually keeps me in the greys), so I’ve probably already read up on it. And sorry, but as another commentor put it, when you’re job can be done by a 14 year old with 2 hours of training, and the culmination of all the skills

I really would encourage you to go read some material about what a market is. Because what you just said blew my mind. I honestly don’t even know how to respond other than to ask you to go take an economics course online or something.

It’s a lot when put in the context of how much these people are paid at every other college in America. See, it’s called a market. And these people are asking well above the market price.

Please tell me why Harvard doesn’t just employ students and pay them like $9/hr like every other country in America.

Buk refers to both the missile and the launcher. There are individual alphanumeric designations for both the missile and the launcher, but most of the time it’s easier to just call it the Buk since the missle and the launcher function as a system. Unfortunately, not as clear in this case though.

Just released it. You may want to update the article headline.

Hey, they just released the video........awkward

Unoriginal, but still a lofty goal.

This is not a true statement about self defense. At all.

No one here thinks the pie is dangerous. But if you go around throwing pies in people’s faces, you deserve to get your ass kicked.

Seriously can’t agree more. You throw anything at someone, you better be prepared to deal with the consequences.

Hahaha you don’t understand the $2 trillion thing at all. Rumsfeld did say that $2 trillion was missing, but he later elaborated in the same press conference that what he meant was that these were $2 trillion in transactions that couldn’t be tracked due to aging computer auditing systems within the department of

Theory doesn’t hold because fried chicken is put through an egg wash before being covered in the breading, and fried chicken is delicious.
