exactly what sotos mentioned...a skinny post-it (bookmark/flag style), folded around and stuck to itself. I usually secure it with tape on the stuck end, but no adhesive sticks to the cable.

Our city has free curbside recycling and they announced recently that plastic bags can be recycled this way.

i spilled coffee on my laptop, and didn't know at the time to remove the battery. I showed it to a computer geek friend who (thankfully) retrieved all my data but told me the battery was toast.
