While I don’t always agree with his reviews (though on this occasion, I am 100% in agreement with pretty much everything he said), I really enjoy Dowd’s podcast presentation and delivery.

I always remember the first transatlantic flight I took just after my divorce. My kids were 5 and 3 respectively. The youngest was really late potty training, but not knowing that they bumped us up to Business Class on British Airways. She then proceeded to have three major blow outs of diapers in the first 1/3 of the

Dinner for $420 for 20 people, including booze, sounds like a pretty good deal. That would barely cover a margarita, let alone the food, where I come from. Either that or I guess it dispels the notion that smoking weed gives you the munchies.

What constitutes “half-used” when it comes to a tissue?

My one cardinal rule relates to wine. Unless the wine is definitively corked, you can never, ever send it back just because you don’t like it (assuming it’s what you ordered). I feel mortified when I see people doing it, and even worse when I then occasionally have to have “the conversation”, merited as it may be.

Slowdive’s eponymous album and Manchester Orchestra’s “A Black Mile to the Surface” were the stand-outs for me this year. At a time when I feel like so many bands are guilty of diminishing returns, it was nice to see artists who had been around a while actually evolving their music.

Easily the best-paced of the Marvel Netflix shows. They avoided the weak second half syndrome. I’d be sad if it didn’t get renewed.

Never heard that before. Very nice, albeit not at all in keeping with the flavor of the movie/game.

While I don’t share the adoration for Mad Max: Fury Road - it just didn’t do it for, sorry - I have to, once again, applaud the excellence of these retrospective reviews. They are, hands down, the best writing at the AV Club. I’m sad at the prospect of them coming to an end in two weeks.

Stannis Baratheon approves this post.

The sad reality is that Occams Razor is going to govern every single instance here. Because men (and I say it as one - and one who saw how the sausage was made many times), by and large, are pigs, and they will do what they do. You can’t just put the toothpaste back in the tube at this point. There aren’t enough

Isn’t this show an adaption of Gaiman’s comic? If so, surely that doesn’t constitute it being a steal?

Weezer is still a damned good live act, even after all these years. There’s just something very...comfortable about them.
