The review dealt with the character as if this episode was going to be the show's take on Anarky. I think that this episode was meant to be the origin story of Machin becoming Anarky. Especially since he got the name from Damien Dahrk at the end and for the first time left the anarchy symbol at a crime scene.

I would add the documentary "Undefeated" to your list.
