The military salute is an ancient honor of respect and tradition. It used to be a sign of the strength of civilian rule and a breach of protocol that people out of uniform not salute.

I think that’s what she’s worried about. I’m mostly with Gigi on this one, though for me I want the toilet lid closed at ALL times (aside from using it, obviously). That shit (literally) sprays everywhere when you flush. Including probably on your toothbrush.

Thank goodness they’re including trans people in this half-baked terrible idea!

1) Somehow it’s never the time.

That rule came from corporate in Canada over 3 years ago. Nobody else wanted to listen to it except pretty much me though.

God. My husband just flew solo with our two young daughters because I had to work and couldn’t be on their same flight. The accolades and praise and literal APPLAUSE that was heaped upon him for being “brave” enough to fly with his OWN CHILDREN would blow your mind. Meanwhile, when I’m out with the both of them? I

Seems like just a rough colloquialism... like saying “Robert is kept busy by working at First Freedom Bank during the week and enjoying family time and fishing on the weekends.” It’s a pretty stuffy turn of phrase, but I don’t see anything wrong with it... anything involving farming really does seem to keep people busy

There is also the problem that if people drop by and the place is a pit, the wife will get far more judgment. And the fact that people who have not prepared themselves to keep house someday often seem to barely grasp the basics of hygiene. My husband does most of the childcare and the dishes and garbage and stuff, but

In Irish there’s a saying: “Ní Saoirse go Saoirse na mBan” (roughly “there’s no freedom until there’s freedom for women) which is broadened by this, from the article:

Thanks. There may have been some sarcasm in your message but I can’t detect it as I am distracted by the cozy warmth of this freshly dried shirt.

it’s more that I’m lazy and there’s movies to watch

Anyone want to have a men free commune in the US? Maybe some place warm...

This resolution appears to have been introduced by either Rrepresentative Linda Love, Redford Township, or Representative Leslie Love, Detroit. Both are Democrats, and in the Republican stranglehold on the Michigan Legislature, these are the kind of meaningful actions they have the power to make. See also: official

Look, when it comes to polls about how people live their personal lives- it doesn’t bother me. People can be as “regressive” as they like as long as it is what they want.

My late husband, for all the good things, was the f’ing worst at this. Trash was his thing. It was his job.  But every time he took it out he’d go ‘YOU’RE WELCOME’

I feel like there’s something more important within the clergy he should be focussing on....

After my maternity leave, I found myself overstepping my husband because he wasn’t changing diapers or clothing baby the same way I was and even now I have to be mindful of it from time to time. I wonder sometimes if we women are so used to having to push ahead we leave our partners behind in the process. This is a

I actually sort of agree with the pope here. Being gay is really just about being “fashionable” therefore they really have no place in the Church’s tradition of sparkly dresses and fancy hats.

My dad enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War because his high school guidance counselor told him he’d never go to college. By a twist of fate he was sent to Germany, not Vietnam, and an Army anesthesist became his mentor. He went to college after the war and has been a nurse anesthesist for 40 years, which now

My middle school guidance counselor said I’d never finish high school because I didn't have great grades. Not only did I finish high school AND college, but I have a graduate degree with work experience in all three branches of the federal government. I went ballistic when she and another teacher who bullied me tried
