I think that it’s a confusing nomenclature issue in Canada. As far as I know, all provinces have both MD and DO physician licensure. They work in hospitals and private practices in both countries. DOs are definitely more common in the states though.

They are physicians in the US.  That said, I am surprised that Trumps pcp is a DO.

What you’re describing sounds like the version of “osteopaths” in some other parts of the world who are not trained physicians. That’s a very different animal.
