With an aftermarket supercharger? I wouldn’t count on it. My r53 has 130,000 miles on it and I haven’t had to do anything to it since 40,000 miles besides routine maintenance (including a clutch), and deal with two rusted holes in the exhaust. It’s been incredibly reliable, but my experience is obviously anecdotal.

If you want a retro-looking supercharged hatch back from the early 2000's for $3k - $8k, I can help you:

With the exception of the Crosstek and the Evoque, which I see pretty often, it seems like all of the wrong cars are selling from the above list. Cars I see frequently:

....the automatics had problems. I’m gonna go out on a limb and bet that this isn’t an automatic. The manuals are good. My ‘05 just needed a clutch replacement after 130,000 miles of hard driving and track time. Totally normal.

I’m curious what seats those were.....

I don’t think the guy should be held equally accountable, but I’m pretty sure I would pull over if I saw this accident and was just minding my own business.

Was that meant to be a response to me?

This is accurate. I interpreted “even if I’m not aiming for anyone in particular” to mean, “even if I’m not trying to hit anyone at all”

Yeah, you’re right. Could be an R/T, although my search shows that the R/T usually had chromed wheels.

I technically can’t. It could be an R/T. But the wheels indicate a high probability that it’s a base v6 model.

Looks like an older model to me. If I’m right, we’re talking about a 3.5l with 250hp. In other words, some dude was racing something that takes 7.1 seconds to reach 60mph, and something like 89 football fields to stop.

Is that the Challenger he was racing? I know that it shouldn’t matter - this story is already horrendously tragic - but I’m additionally annoyed that this dude was racing/crashed the Enterprise Rent-a-Car special. Probably shouldn’t be surprised.

In fairness, it’s pretty difficult to make a good Autocross video. The settings aren’t exactly conducive to good, interesting footage. I’m yet to really love an AutoX vid...and I love AutoX

True. There were loads of additional factors in play - I just gave the distilled version. More things to consider:

Ahhh, you mean “new to me” prices started rising. Got it. Yeah, used car prices went through the roof. There were two reasons for that:

It DEFINITELY won’t be worse. This is only a bubble in that there are a lot of shitty long-term loans out there. But car prices haven’t been steadily increasing over the last 60 years; they’ve just been keeping up with inflation. And, ya know, AIG isn’t building a massive Credit Default Swap market based on auto
