I don't deny it's pretty first world, but as the owner of an Alaskan Malamute in a decidedly not Alaskan environment, sometimes cold treats for the puppy are pretty nice in the summer. My puppy has gotten a few small cups of DQ softserve in her time. It cools her off and entices her to eat.

They could react to a person's race, gender, hair colour, build, etc. But some dogs can sense developmental delays and disabilities in people with their superdoggy sense, and might react to that, too.
