I’ve read this article several times; each time I read it, the sense that there is much that is fundamentally wrong about it grows. Perusing the many comments here clarifies much for me.

Succinctly put.

“Snoopy represented the freed creative spirit.”

An interesting read. However, as I mentioned in my reply to a comment here, I feel that the author cherry-picks examples to prove his point. (To be fair to him, it is very difficult to be all-inclusive when dealing with such a massive body of work.) But that is part of the weakness inherent in articles such as this:
