Because not all queer couple are same-sex/gender or gay… I’m a queer/pan woman in a relationship with a gay woman, we do not identify as a gay couple.

Victime in French is always feminine, no matter the gender of the victim. The French language has a history of misogyny. When the French Academy was created, Richelieu tried (and succeed for some) to make all soft and weak nouns feminine and the powerful ones masculine. So the original might have been inclusive.
