What kind of backhanded shit is this? You do know that black people can afford to buy their own shit and don’t need charity to have nice things, right? You don’t know what Philando’s familys’ financial situation is like so don’t assume it’s from GoFundMe! All of the funerals I have been to for my BLACK relatives have

I like the bit where the news media was asking his mom if she forgave the officer for killing him before he was even fucking buried.

When we stop allowing police units to blackball prosecutors’ offices when one of their own gets indicted. Cops have a lot of power to screw over cases if they don’t feel like showing up or protecting evidence, and they use that power to keep their murderous colleagues from being held accountable. “Look at this expensive funeral! How can black people afford this without fundraising” jesus LOOK at how you are speaking and what it implies your thoughts are.

On MPR this morning, the police chief of the city I live in, which borders on the city where Philando Castile was shot, announced that they were forming a citizen advisory board to review all their policies relevant to the use of force. He said they are doing this because of what happened to Castile and because it is

“*flipping through wad of cash* Hm? Another one of our officers shot another a no-name negro? Psh, just tell the public he feared for his life and his shooting was justified. Oh? He had no weapons? Just plant one of our pistols or a bag of weed — What? Recorded? Hm, this will take time but do we have their phone?”

I’m not holding my breath. This is America and I’m a Black woman.

As someone who is disabled, I am not particularly offended by or upset with this. And trust me, I am aware that I’m in the minority in the disabled community*. But the reality is that being disabled means that there are obvious challenges to holding down most jobs, let alone the demands of an acting career. It just

And, to the troll saying that “this is a radicalized black man, not a gun problem,” that is beyond ridiculous. A very quick Google search on mass shootings or even gun violence in general will quickly show that “radicalized blacks” are NOT the fucking problem.

Pretty much. And services for vets are just appalling, which is particularly terrible because of all the empty lip service paid to soldiers.

Because a gun makes you a REAL AMURRICAN and needing mental health services makes you a pussy, according to the Republican party.

Wasn’t the solution to a “Bad Guy With a Gun” supposed to be “Good Guy(s) With Guns”? Why didn’t all those open carry heroes at the protest prevent this from happening? Instead of running the other way & making it harder for the police to tell who the “Bad Guys” were?

A friend of mine in the States is a veteran with fairly severe but improving PTSD. He can get a gun far more easily than any kind of mental health care. Which is juuuuust great.

We’re the only country in the world where mass shootings occur on the regular and the only country where you can get a gun easier than you can get antibiotics, but “this is not a gun control problem.”

I like this. Assholes don’t get cake. Oh, you think girls are asking for it? No more cake. You said “If he was beating her, why didn’t she just leave?” No more cake. You think rape culture doesn’t exist? Say goodbye to Cake Culture, moddafucka!

Last night, when I was giving out cake, the Son in Law said that she shouldn’t be allowed to sue because she chose to continue working there. I literally took the fork out of his hand and said that he can’t have any until he pulls his head out of his ass. I’m not fooling around with these people anymore. No more aid

I think he has a point - obviously black people have significantly more to fear, but don’t we all have something to fear from an unaccountable body of people who can kill you for simple acts of non-compliance? The us vs. them attitude of police is scary no matter who you are - especially if you’re black or brown, and

Bingo. The problem will never be fixed because they keep us divided among racial lines. Police brutality is an issue affecting lower class Americans regardless of race. Are there elements of racism in some of these cases. Yes. But I think the bigger issue at hand here is the blank check the police have to shoot and

People can make themselves believe in anything. 20 % of Americans believe that angels are real. Many Germans made themselves believe that their Jewish neighbors were “resettled” in Eastern Europe when the brownshirts came for them, nevermind that Germany was riddled with hundreds of concentration and labor camps.

I read Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between the World and Me recently, and was struck by his purposeful use of the word body, over and over. To have your body taken away, to have black bodies stolen. That was a strong reminder that this is a violent physical thing that happens to real people, and not some abstract thing from
