I’m firmly in that utilitarian camp. I felt bad at first, but after surveying some friends and family, they all agreed they’d rather have the less personal but more useful gift - especially since I’m not great at picking out gifts anyways!

While I feel like cutting most of this stuff is much easier with a knife (less effort! that was a lot of scissor motion), these techniques would be GREAT for kids (over a certain age)!

Completely understandable! My mother has schizophrenia, and my sister displays some symptoms of mental illness, so aside from being terrified of pregnancy and babies, I have severe hesitations with potentially passing that on.
