I have it on, so that if my replies are stupidly terse, it means I’m out doing something and I’ll reply in a more substantial manner when I’m in front of a computer and unoccupied apart from reading Deadspin.

Probably to do with the whole “my body is ready” tone of this post.
It’s certainly not anti-Islamic to say that people shouldn’t be abused. I’m Arab and other Arabs can be racist as shit. It’s something I call out when I get the chance but it is certainly a systemic issue in the Arab world.
Case in point: Bobby Finger points out on the muse that the new Coen brothers movie is all-white, commenter respectfully and thoughtfully points out that it’s a satire of the golden age hollywood studio system, which was pretty much all-white. Instead of accepting that invitation to engage in a serious conversation…
Pretty much this. Every time they have had a piece fall flat or was just plain terrible, they were childish enough to come to the comments and either berate us all for being too stupid or lame to understand, or just desperately defended each other. I doubt this will be handled any better.
Sigh, I know, right?! It was a BBC one, I think. About an incredibly strong and amazing Yazidi woman who is trying to track these lost girls and free them. The stories these girls told her were just awful. The worst thing - many of the girls will get shunned and outcast by their families if (IF!) they manage to escape…
Which do you think he’ll appreciate more- having his name and picture linked to a terrorist, or Joanna’s super-slick jokes about a hospital bombing?
Was it that documentary by Frontline for PBS? Because after watching that I just wanted to lie down and not do anything for the rest of the day (I mean I always want to but that time more than usual) :(
I wonder what your ethical dilemma is:
Tell her if she loves your scar so much you’d be willing to give her one twice as long anywhere she wants it. Then do the dragging the thumb across your neck thing for good measure.
my aunt and all my cousins are in syria and we haven’t heard from them in a few weeks. hugs to you. shit sucks.
I wonder what she’s thinking reading all these comments as they roll in.
What the fuck is this even?! Just yesterday I watched a documentary about mostly underaged Yazidi girls who managed to escape sexual slavery, gang rape, war trauma and torture by ISIS men and you honestly think it is funny to write a “would I fuck this ISIS dude” article?
Nope, not just you. Something about, idk, mass rapists, child brides, luring vulnerable young girls away from their families...
Drake doesn’t give a shit about Joanna’s boner. Neither do I frankly.
Nope, this was in extremely bad taste and supremely unfunny. I am waiting for Jezebel staff members to write enlightening comments about us all being silly and stupid and totes not getting the brilliant satire that this piece is any minute now.
Does this make Joanna a “complete asshole”?
1) I know you wanna be funny, and shocking, but honestly this is just sad and despairing.
There are some that could look at ISIS and bleakly focus on the wholesale rape, torture, and slavery of Yazidi girls and women, the public executions of queer men and women, their responsibility in part for the migrant crisis in Europe, the evil, the decimation of cities and cultures, and the constant grind of death,…
