Yeah, I’m a Bears fan and my dad had the privilege of being able to root for one of the greatest teams in history. Unfortunately, I was born in 87 and have known nothing but sadness and instead of bonding over games, sundays were spent in silence. The product is without question worse and less interesting.

This point is 20 years old by now, but, boxing, horse-racing, and baseball have all held and lost the pinnacle of the American sports landscape. It can happen. Over a long enough timeframe, it will happen to football, even if it isn’t laid low by its immediate issues.

In ten/fifteen years when there are fewer and fewer kids playing football in high school and more and more choosing soccer, baseball, and basketball, the NFL will change its ways, or die.

Fair. I just really tried to find something else to do with my time. sure if it’s on, and there’s nothing else to do, i’ll leave it on while i take a nap, but giving up on this whole blindly loving the NFL FAMILY bullshit is pretty fucking great.

Why does not watching the NFL assume that you have to replace it with watching some other sport?
