The Teen Titans Go!/Young Justice crossover (but not really) episode was a thing of beauty. “Oh, nothing. Just thinking about my dead parents. So tragic.”

Aren’t those textbook examples of hating something NOT on it’s own merits?
I started watching it because my kids liked it and I found myself laughing at it more than them. They’d get all the kids jokes but there are so many jokes aimed squarely at adults. It reminds me of the old Looney Tunes.
Pretty sure the climax of Avengers 4 will hinge on someone having a bow and arrow. Enter Hawkeye.
I doubt it had to do with cowardice rather than the disturbing/terrifying/sad scene had nothing to do with the rest of the film, which was a gentle action-comedy. The scene had more to do with Infinity War than Ant Man and the Wasp and was properly separated from the rest of the film.
Rather than being a major part of the next Avengers movie, I think this will be how Marvel explains why Ant Man isn’t in it at all. He’s stuck in the quantum realm while the Avengers fix the universe.
And now we know why Ant Man will not appear in the next Avengers movie. He will be stuck in the quantum realm but once everything is reset he’ll be fine. It’s a pretty brilliant way of keeping him out of the action.
The second one’s budget makes sense if the studio expected it not to do as well as the original. Once it was a proven franchise (they just released a prequel TV series on Netflix) they really should have thrown a bit more money at this one.
Following in the tradition of Madagascar 3 then. Good to know.
That was Despicable Me 3 for me.
Yes, and the toll activating that strength takes on her body isn’t made very clear in the show (other than her passing out after her first murder).
It was a smart choice to hit the end of Abaddon’s Gate if they thought there wouldn’t be a season 4, but there were ways they could have kept the last episode from feeling so rushed. Ashford’s turn didn’t make a lot of sense. Up until that point he may have been the most rational person on the ship. He even had solid…
I do wonder if Bobbi will be added to the Roci crew. She’s a great character but Cibola Burn will be introducing a bunch of new characters so it might not be wise to keep anyone around that they don’t need. Including Bobbi in Abaddon’s Gate made sense as it gave us a point of view in the Martian camp and continued her…
The character of Clarissa got kind of shafted due to the truncated nature of the season. Her first scene in the series should have been her first scene from the books. It would have made for an excellent intro. And her arc in the book is great, but then again the book has the advantage of letting you in on her…
I hope we go back to the slow burn now that the show is moving to Amazon. I see no reason all of season 4 couldn’t be Cibola Burn.
Whoa, whoa, whoa... I’ll give you the ending of BSG not being the greatest but the beginning was bad? The first episode, not including the miniseries, was 33, which is possibly the best one of the entire series (with the possible exception of Exodus Part 2).
I agree with most of this although I would put this show closer to BSG than Firefly, although the Roci does have a very Serenity feel at times. It has one foot firmly planted in realism (decent grasp of physics, believable character motivations and world building) and the other sunk knee deep in pulpy action and…
There isn’t a lot of world hopping in the books. The gates for the different systems are as far out from those systems’ habitable planets as the gate in the Solar System is from Earth. In other words it’s still a long trip to get anywhere.
The last several weeks I have had The Expanse, Legion and Westworld, and although all have their pleasures, The Expanse was easily the best of the three. It may not be as experimental or philosophical as the other two but it also knows how to tell a good story without disappearing up it’s own ass.
The purpose of the protomolecule on the Roci is explained in the books and although it’s important it’s nothing huge. It should come up next season.
