Well, the deal with the Entertainment is that it unquestioningly causes viewers to become so addicted that they can't be pulled away from it. There was the running idea that there was a cure being made for the Entertainment, but I recall James or maybe Orin scoffing at that idea. By the way, if this didn't connect

But what good is reading Infinite Jest if you're not constantly holding it up so everyone can see the cover? /s

You'll get there. I believe in you, buddy. My level of self hatred is enough that I'm about to read it a third time, because all this talk about it actively me want to dive back in.

I'll go hang my head in shame for Jestsplaining.

The funny thing is, I never would have read it if not for Man Seeking Woman playing it up as a joke for the entire first season.

It uhhh makes a lot more sense on a re-read, honestly. With it being so painfully dense, there's a shit ton of details you very likely missed. Your confusion about the main character's situation is fairly clear, if you can track the details in some of the one-off stories Pemulis tells late-ish in the book about that

There are some real comedic gems buried in there. The Clipperton Suite story is a favorite. Agreed on the depression and addiction all around though. Clearly, Wallace had a strong understanding of both. Not to mention, drugs of the prescription variety and otherwise.

I'll raise your bluff! I'll read it again while simultaneously listening to the audio book and tying the noose I'll hang myself with once I'm done!

I've bought the hardcover version THREE times in the last two years, because I've handed two copies to people I know will probably never power through it.

Yeah, it's a real fucking slog for like 300 pages on the first read-through. For me, it got truly addictive once there was focus on the AA meetings and halfway house. By that point, I actually started to connect and empathize with the characters. At least, the adult ones. Then also the tennis academy kids. But mostly,

I read it twice just last year, and I'm about to embark on another read through. Yes, I hate myself. Why do you ask?

Clearly, you’re forgetting the next best weapon in the game, the UMP9.

Count me in on those upvotes. I've gotten a whole hell of a lot more mileage out of Manners, where I find Phoenix to be fairly spotty.

He was wearing a nice pair of black New Balance, with a blue N on them. Almost identical to the shoes I was wearing that night. Also, he's funny as shit.

I think we need an unranked competitive mode for this reason. I personally enjoy the rule set for Competitive, but I’m there for the ranking. It’s the only carrot Overwatch has to keep me playing, and (no offense) people who are playing Competitive for shenanigans need to stay out of ranked matches.

Well, they probably had the same experience as me, where that 200 SR does actually make the difference between ranks.

I can’t stress enough how toxic it is being a dedicated solo player. Getting out of gold or below is Sisyphean, given how hard it is to tell when players are legitimately shitty or just trolling. On the other hand, being on the edge of diamond and getting deranked by Masters and Grand Masters who are throwing because

I’m less frustrated by my specific SR than I am the sheer amount of toxic, stubborn or just bad players you run into early in the season. Having played every season so far, I gain the most SR mid to late season, after all the Bastion, Hanzo and Widowmaker ONLY players are in the proper ranks (Bronze, obviously).

Nah, homie, Bandai model kits don’t come painted. There are Gundam kits that are hundreds of dollars (see: Perfect Grade) that have nice, color separated parts, but they still require decals and paint if you want weathering or any of that.

Those are actually animated by Disney, where these Marvel shows are very likely outsourced to external studios. I know of at least one studio that used to animate one of the Hulk shows.
