He didn’t get a scholarship, he is a walk on.
He didn’t get a scholarship, he is a walk on.
Ancillary to this story, but this kid’s Dad just tried to murder a judge outside of a courthouse a few weeks back. The dad shot and wounded the judge, but the judge and a deputy returned fire and killed his Dad.
Unless I’m mistaken he was kicked off the Youngstown State football team. Tell me I’m wrong. It’s a matter of when are people satisfied that a person has been punished? This will follow him for the rest of his life.
He wasn’t in jail or prison. He was in juvy. He was and is considered a child (not a man) when he committed the rape. His records are now sealed and his time has been served. Therefore, he SHOULD be allowed to play football or get a job or do whatever the hell he wants within the limits of the law. It doesn’t matter…
I was wrong. Those two girls didn’t stab their friend to death but they did TRY to stab their friend to death. Look at the comments on this latest Jezebel update of the Slenderman stabbings. You can look up the comments on other stories they did too...
Ha! This site was formerly owned by Gawker. They’re also henpecked by their sister site, Jezebel. According to Deadspin/Jezebel, certain criminals get to move on with their lives while others don’t.
A lot of things look wrong about this story. Aren’t juvenile court records sealed? In any case, he was apparently convicted, served his time, so why can’t he pursue his life? The school accepted him, presumably knowing that his goal was not to read Shakespeare, but to play football. It seems duplicitous of the school…
I have to ask: at what point does a person get to move on with their life? He served his term of punishment.
Bit of a difference between your drunk racist relative doing it on their facebook feed to a public figure feeling completely comfortable with doing it on video for the world to see.
He never stood up for Lou Holtz whose 2nd language is English.
At ESPN Deportes his job is to provide his journalistic services in Spanish. At ESPN, it’s to do it in English. He did that poorly last night.
Just so I’m clear, you’re saying that people who quote/reference MLK’s “I have a dream” speech, but don’t quote/reference another particular speech of his, are white supremacists?
I love the “What if I said the same thing about Obama?” crowd.
There are consequences on both sides. Ever heard of Curt Schilling?
Not enough blame is being laid at the feet of Arena. Sure, Lalas called him out, but I think he’s missing his view of the forest because of the trees. Arena is an “old school soccer” coach. He doesn’t seem to have any real grasp of how the game operates outside of the lower 48, nor does he care to educate himself…
1. Talent
If only Lalas was respected as much as Deadspin commenters. According to these comments, he shouldn’t even be allowed to claim he played soccer.
Lalas ripped off Chris Burley’s rant from earlier in the week
Finished the season yesterday and I have to say this is the best season yet. It has a beautiful impact. I’m rewatching already and it’s just crazy how well written the show is. It’s living up to the potential it’s always had to tell the story from multiple angles. I’m just bum the low comments, I used to really enjoy…
