Well as for an opinion piece. I can absolutely see why each of these manufactures are siding with the federal side of things. Each with their own reasons, ranging from more time for a transitions to EVs to just wanting to ride the ICE train forever.

I just want to thank you for starting a conversation that is considerate of the nuances of the situation. It’s a breath of fresh air when going through many comments of ‘absolutes’.

I think their ownership is only going to go up as requirements drive vehicles towards hybrid and EV technologies. Toyota can obviously front a much much larger R&D bill than Subaru and their ties should get closer and closer as Subaru needs that tech to survive.
