Same. I recently read a great article about the “mommy needs wine” narrative and how destructive it can be for alcoholics and women straddling the line between use and abuse. I think this speaks to the idea that thin people don’t struggle with their weight, which is untrue. It is entirely possible that she’s dealt with an eating disorder her entire life and this is a way for her to get on the right path.

I think it’s ok to use your kids as motivation. My eating disorder was at its worst from age 18-24. I’m not where I used to be but my eating is still disordered. I also have an almost two year old daughter and I DO want to get healthy for her. It’s not going to take long for her to figure out that mommy doesn’t eat…
