While this isn’t for me, the less-snarky aspect is that it is encouraging community in a society that is ever-more less-communal. As a young adult after college I moved to the other side of the country, lived alone, and had no community. This is one positive side of housing like this.
There were 2 reasons I chose our pediatrician, and it was based on negative Yelp reviews.
As someone who has both serious mental health issues and serious financial issues, I feel the need to point out here that sure, being able to afford primo help is presumably better than trying to slog it out on your own, unassisted by professionals but it’s not as easy as hiring a housecleaner - presto! clean house!…
Counterpoint? A lot of people who experience depression try to self-medicate and set off a vicious circle. Coke spoons on IG isn’t cool but when you’re wired and feeling brilliant, judgement also gets compromised.
Wait... they just stole that money... why they throwing it away!?
from the styling choices, 2001-era Shakira waits in a car while Coolio gets robbed by a girl group in an abandoned motel?
White men seem to be really threatened by the fact that some of the Kardashian/Jenner clan seem to be primarily attracted to black men.
Some differences between Lyme’s Disease and Chronic Lyme: Lyme’s shows up on standard blood tests; Chronic Lyme does not. Lyme’s is typically able to be connected with being bitten by a tick (even if you don’t remember being bitten, you were likely in a tick-infested area); Chronic Lyme could happen anywhere.
Oh, my boyfriend’s sister swears she has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Does she have an actual diagnosis from a real Medical Doctor? Nope. Does she take thyroid medication? Nope. She’s fully one of those people.
I’d say it’s depression (which can absolutely manifest as physical symptoms) being exacerbated by menopause.
I read that as describing the people who have no demonstrable laboratory abnormalities that still claim to have hypothyroidism. I know several people like this, some of whom use “natural” thyroid supplements which are supposed to boost energy and promote weight loss.
In Avril’s case in particular is sounds like she rejected an actual diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, because reasons. That seems common with people who claim to have chronic Lyme. Then they treat themselves with snake oil.
What’s the difference between Lyme’s Disease and Chronic Lyme?
She also insists that she broke her back giving birth due to a potassium allergy (literally impossible for a human to be allergic to potassium). She’s not exactly reliable.
Thyroid disorders (Graves disease, Hashimoto’s, to name two) are very real, and easy to detect (a simple blood test), so don’t know why that’s being lumped in with ‘diseases and disorders that many claim they suffer from, yet are unrecognized by evidence-based medicine’. Makes me question the rest of the article…
I’m sure that these women are suffering. Whether their efforts are best spent chasing the specter of chronic lyme which (probably) isn’t real, is questionable. I too suffer from an “invisible” chronic pain disorder (chronic migraines) so I get the “you don’t look sick” thing, but I just can’t get behind long-term…
To have great pain is to have certainty, to hear that another person is in pain is to have doubt.
You don’t need to be an M.D. to see that Yolanda almost certainly does not have lyme. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it’s depression (which can absolutely manifest as physical symptoms) being exacerbated by menopause. It also seems like she’s being taken advantage of by a lot of people selling snake oil cures.
i will add that if this were a JOJO song, i would love it, but meghan trainor is the DEFINITION of the sonic uncanny valley and this song is not fun but instead DEEPLY FREAKY as a result imo
