That’s a lovely portrait. It really captures his likeness beautifully.

I don’t think it’s the fact that they have become cyborgs that makes their story so chilling. I agree that artificial limbs and organs does not remove that person’s humanity. What separates the Cybermen from other cyborgs or human with artificial limbs/organs is the fact that they remove/shut off their emotions that

Just so long as it’s not named Mondas and full of Cybermen!

Woo hoo!!! Someone else who likes (or at least knows about) one of my favorite Pink Floyd ‘songs’. I remember first hearing that one on an episode of Doctor Demento (my other favorite Doctor.) I’m rather partial to some seriously weird music. I almost laughed out loud when I read your comment (it was almost 2am

Point well taken. I didn’t realize Gary Downie’s reputation until I read the Peter Davison interview. I had heard that JNT’s boyfriend was bad news, but I either missed his name or didn’t put 2 and 2 together as to who it was.

I’m in total agreement about ‘Heaven Sent’, the episode you referenced (even if it took me four viewings of it before it started to make any sort of sense to me). It was absolutely brilliant. It doesn’t matter how frustrated I get with a particular show runner/Doctor/companion, I can’t help coming back for the next

Oooh, ouch! I just read Peter Davison’s account of that from the Doctor Who Magazine interview in issue 503. That was a ‘gator-mouth’ moment if ever I saw one. (gator-mouth being a term I use for when one opens his/her mouth and complete stupidity comes out.) Whether he (Matthew) was joking, as he claims, or not,

It’s funny, as much as I defend Adric (as I have on-and-off for 30+ years), I never saw the scenes of Adric seemingly always eating as a running joke aimed solely at Adric, as much as pointing out that he was a teenage boy and that teenage boys tend to eat a lot. In fact according to Gary Downie (production manager

Pendants of the world unite!

I agree completely! We even share the same fandom blind spot. I’ve been watching Doctor Who since high school (about 30+ years ago) and I still adore it every bit as much now as I did then (both Classic and NuWho.) It’s really become a refuge even more so recently. Here’s hoping that this season’s really good.

OK, it’s my turn to be a bit pedantic. The image of Adric was used by the Xeriphan to keep Nyssa and Tegan out of their “inner sanctum” (along with an image of the Melkur from Keeper of Traken. I think they got the information from Nyssa when they “bubble-wrapped” her earlier in the episode.)

Oh, just that aside from Andrew Smith, who wrote Adric’s first story (and one of his latest Big Finish stories) Matthew Waterhouse probably knows Adric better than anyone.

I can’t speak for Ace, but I do know for certain that Adric does not count in that sense. For proof I refer you to pg. 74 of the most recent issue (510) of Doctor Who Magazine (the one with John Hurt on the cover), pg. 6 of issue 503 (the one with Peter Davison on the cover) and podcast episode 242 ... This is

Actually, most of my cosplay costumes were created with items found at thrift shops and whatever wig I could find that matched the character (with some of the harder items like Adric’s yellow tunic or the 4th Doctor’s scarf were made by one of my friend’s mom... because I cannot sew beyond a whip stitch and I couldn’t

Now playing

I don’t have any pictures of my Mel costume, but I did find some of the old PBS Doctor Who pledge breaks that the local Doctor Who fan club used to do that a friend of mine posted on YouTube that I’m in dressed as Adric (in the costume he wore in Black Orchid) swinging the 4th Doctor’s scarf like a jumprope with a

While I would dispute the description of Adric as being annoying (he’s a teenager... any teenager who is not annoying is an aberration.) However, I do whole-heartedly agree that he gets way more hate than he deserves (although I might be a bit prejudiced...he is my favorite Classic Who companion, she says completely

Donna’s my favorite NuWho companion! I should hope that there’s more than ten of us. I’ve met at least ten Whovians just since I’ve gone back to school in 2015 that are fans of Donna Noble.

You are definitely not the only Mel fan. I used to cosplay her (and enjoyed every bit of it) back in when Doctor Who was being aired on my local PBS station in the ‘80s and ‘90s. I also had the original London cast soundtrack of Cats because Bonnie Langford (and Brian Blessed) were part of the cast. I still think

I do know who Dorothea “Dodo” Chaplet is, and I do know her reputation (thus the recognizing the “Curse of Dodo” reference. I don’t remember her episodes very well (I haven’t seen any of them since between 1983 and around 1992... I don’t quite remember when my PBS station aired the First Doctor episodes) and it’s

ARG....I completely forgot that Ian and Barbara traveled with Vicki as well. Here I go priding myself on remembering every companion (even Kamelion) and every Tardis team and I go a forget one of the first ones.
