Hell yes to this. I read the graphic novels first and found the movie severely underwhelming. Not only does it cover less than half of the source material, but it turns some of the more interesting characters into out-and-out villains, and turns the God Warrior into nothing more than a big dumb plot device-slash-laser…

Ick, I did NOT like Nausicaa... and I tend to love the worlds that Miyazaki creates but really hates how he ends his movies. To me, it's always seemed like he does a wonderful job of world building, but then the movie suddenly ends without anything happening; almost like everything is right back where it started in…

I would love to see a trilogy based on the manga series. I love the animated movie, but the manga is just soooo much better. A properly done series based on the movies would be not only a modern classic, but so fitting a message for how environmentally fucked the world is right now.

Nausicaa was the most disappointing of the Hayao Miyuzaki movies IMO. Maybe I was predisposed to not like it though because it only covers the first quarter of the books... For me I got to the end was like "wait... that's it?" and was severely disappointed...
