BRILLIANT! If we coat our houses in game cases and leave them open, when we notice a spider crawling on one we can close the case on them and trap them forever! Granted you can then never open that game case again for fear of unleashing a horde of hellspawn, but the sacrifice is worth it.

You make a good point, for group status it's probably a bit much. But people can see what you're doing regardless of your block/offline status in the "Activity" feed over on the right where it says friends in game. That's what I think should be changed, hell, mine as well get rid of the "friends in game" section of…
If you block a friend, their Steam friends list tells them you're offline. However, if they check Steam groups and things of the like, they'll be able to see your actual status. That really sucks and I hope Valve changes it. For now, though, you've been warned.
