I think Key is the sort of comedian that needs someone to play off of, which isn’t that terribly uncommon.  Being funny on your own in a vacuum is pretty damn hard to do.

Heaven forbid we acknowledge the existence of the vague shape of genitalia.

There’s a couple things here that I think hurt Dehya (and a lot of the Sumeru characters as a whole; really only Alhaitham and Nahida are considered all that “good” by the masses):

To be fair, I understand the jokes in Bobobo made zero sense even in the original Japanese.

It’s obviously a clone, placed there to deflect from the truth; that he wasn’t killed for crypto, but that the CDC had him killed for trying to use crypto to pay for the experts that would reveal the truth about vaccines!

I’d argue it’s less the “can do no wrong” crowd and more, “why were you expecting them not to eventually do this wrong?” crowd.

Considering that it started as a concept for BotW DLC, I’m not surprised that it kept that look and feel.

Yeah? So? Games “back in the day” didn’t have multiplayer outside of the split screen played from the same couch. If you lost your save or your cartridge broke, you were SOL.

On one hand, you’re right. The cost of games has not increased with the standard cost of inflation, and hasn’t for a very long time.

There is an element of society that seems to take joy in building people up simply so that said society can tear them down later... but I genuinely don’t think that group is particularly large.

Gosh, it’s almost like there are systemic problems at OTK or something.

Rowling’s “new crowd” might have focused her in a way that she wouldn’t have, but you just have to read her earliest books to see that she’s always held some pretty toxic views of people (it’s not like the goblins were distressingly obvious anti-semitic caricatures only after Book 4, for example).

If I had to wager a guess, it could be something as ridiculously simple as Nintendo loathes people who pull back the curtain on their internal development.

I’m just surprised it didn’t end with Musk calling the dude a pedophile or something.

Cronos ate the whole damn scale, and threw it up along with his kids. It all went sideways from there.

The lore for ANY of Nintendo’s OG IPs is all over the place, and I’d argue intentionally so, so that they don't feel compelled to obey any canon and can just do whatever interests them at the moment.

I think that means low pressure to buy it, which I would argue is true. Genshin doesn’t shove its battle pass in your face, nor does it even advertise it outside of one icon of many in the corner of the screen. It doesn’t lock any unique “limited time exclusive” skins, items, or characters behind it.

On the contrary, Nintendo’s preservation is near peerless. Studios literally will come to them for source code of games a studio made in the past because Nintendo preserves those games when most can’t be arsed.

More accurately, they’d force others to eat glass before allowing those IP into the public domain.

It’s completely generic, which really is all it needs to be.
