Nothing excuses our actions. We are responsible for all of them. This might explain it but that is all. We still put down bears, coyotes, and other wild animals that kill humans, habitually raid dumpsters, etc.; holding them responsible despite the fact that we know why they were there/did what they did.

It might explain it but it doesn't excuse it.
