That is most definitely a factory heat shield. The janky appearance is likely the result of 30 years of gorillas maintaining the car.

Close. I think I found it in Maine!

Rather 1 hour. 1 hour of rally glory (and some super cheese 80's music).

Now playing

There was a time when I had a large portion of my group b VHS collection online. Sadly all but one remain, but it’s 30 minutes of rally glory.

Obeegatory. That gif is bonkers.

Nothin’ finer than a Shiner!

I bought an ‘06 Tacoma, Access Cab TRD Offroad with a 6spd manual transmission years ago. I totally overpaid at $13k. Two years later it only has 114000 miles, so I guess I’m in good shape to get my money back if I resell. This truck replaced my base level 1996 Tacoma, which I sold with a bad frame to a professional

I guess you could say, that diesel was “smoked”?

Honestly, I didn’t know that was even paws-ible.

If I only had the dough...

Did you ever consider a 4BT (4cyl version)? The little brother of this engine is a popular swap option, one that I’ve seen people add compound turbo setups to. Since they were an industrial application (bread trucks) they were a little easier to come by without a truck attached. A little easier/cheaper to come by than

“fapstravaganza”, lol!

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far for this correction!

On I thought she was making dinner? Then a minute later she’s hanging out on a boat? Im confused.

For someone who needs range beyond it’s capacity, the Golf doesn’t work (though Zip car and the like could supplement for longer trips). If we were a single car family, it would not work for us. We definitely did NOT buy it for environmental reasons (coincidentally, we also own a cheaty diesel), but for fun/

Uh, then I’d have to drive an Escalade! No thanks. Seriously though, we drive the crap out of that car. Besides her short commute, that car is exclusively our mule for all errands. Our lease is rediculous (12k a year) which is more than it is driven. We got more than 10 grand off in incentives too, making it cheap.

I completely agree it is only a reasonable car for some. Though I think in ‘17 the battery was increased (bringing mileage to 120 from 80), it is still not feasible for a lot of folks, especially given the cost. My wife drives 4 miles to work, which is hard on an ICE given it doesn’t even warm up, which is another

The VW E-Golf looks like a Golf. My wife and I leased it for that reason (as well as driving dynamics). Aside from the badges, they are only identifiable from the outside by the wheels and fog lamps, and of course the lack of tail pipe.
