Populism has been tightening it’s grip on the world since 2008 during the global economic collapse that put people into a panic. This isn’t new. This isn’t novel. You haven’t been paying attention.

Global Warming, as term divorced from its real meaning, sounds like it might be pleasant. It doesn’t sound like something that needs to be addressed now. Global Heating however sounds terrifying.

America just has so much global cultural push that it seems like our failures are unique. In fact people everywhere are screw ups, it’s just that when Portugal has tainted water or Vietnam underfunds its schools or Luxembourg refuses to reign in assault weapons the immediate devastation is far less wide-reaching.
