Here’s my best take: I’ve been a Boston sports fan all my life. Grew up right outside the belt. It all feels like the Ashley Judd movie Double Jeopardy. I’ve suffered through decades of Boston sports obscurity and now that they’ve all had a championship, I’m just biding my time. I’ve done my time! Whatever! I’m going

Counter point: anything that gets more people interested in soccer in the US is good.

I will say, these are actually pretty amazing for distance runners because you can put them in your pack frozen, after a number of miles it’ll thaw out and they’re very manageable to eat while running. Outside of that, though, I can’t see why anyone would eat them.

When the next civil war starts, I’m finding you and fighting by your side till my death.

No, just a lot of the groups are either complete tossups, or 2nd place is a complete tossup. Group A could be anyone, Brugge will probably not go through, though. Group B will obviously have Barca top, but 2nd is anyone’s guess. Group C will pretty obviously have PSG and Liverpool advancing. Nothing special about

LIKE A TRUE BOSTON FAN.

Came for “hit by a car” and am leaving disappointed.

It fits the crime. Context: this sort of thing in European competitions is a little more lax. Bringing food or doing it multiple times is one thing, but a health check in a long stretch of heat / no shade? Ok. Little sip of water? It’s water. Whatever. While a DQ was appropriate, we have to acknowledge that this sort

As an ultrarunner who knows many ultrarunners, this is 100% right. This was a good DQ, and an obvious DQ from anyone who has run an ultra. This guy obviously planned this way in advance and suffered the just consequences for it.

Point of clarity: nobody wants to read about Jerry Falwell JR’S football team.

Yes. YES. YEEEEES. MORE HOPE! The tears will be delicious!!!

Rebuke the rest of themselves and be a shining example. Whoever started the trend should be fired.

Law 14, section 2. Keeper does this and is penalized: required yellow card.

You’re not wrong that it’s a caution, but it’s Law 14, section 2. He’s legally preventing a goal here, but he has infringed on a requirement of the penalty kick.

Law 14 Section 2 now requires a caution if the keeper does this. Check out www.theifab.com.

Law 14, the Penalty Kick, section 2. Once the referee has signalled (sic) for a penalty kick to be taken, the kick must be taken. If, before the ball is in play, one of the following occurs:

start/stop/pause is completely legal unless they come to a complete stop once they have completed their run-up to the ball (sources: IFAB Laws of the Game; I am a referee)

Yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for! Barry needs to believe for the curse to come alive!

I like the harper analogy, but I would say Ichiro is a better comparison. Ungodly good skill for an extended period of time, will absolutely be in the hall of fame, but just seems to never get a sniff at a championship. While that could change this year, I think Ichiro’s dominance is closer to Ovechkin’s dominance.

“This is the year!” - Barry every year except this year.
