Nader 2016

Scam??? I can flash the tune on my car and make an extra 30hp on E85. Sure, the mileage is horrible, but powah! I only wish it was more readily available.

Hah! Very true.

It was GM’s for the taking, circa 2000.

That sounds like Bosch’s ass covering letter: “you definitely shouldn’t do anything illegal with our equipment (like we know you’re about to) and this letter is to prove we told you so when the lawyers come sniffing around”

If I crank up my 2-stroke weed-whacker and chainsaw and do yard maintenance for a few days each year... I’ve likely polluted much more than a modern VW TDI pollutes in it’s lifetime. The current crisis is being reported as if VW was committing a significant crime against nature (pollution), when in fact the real crime

I’d like to know what the current standards for diesel cars in the US. How do they compare to the standards for Gasoline powered cars in the US. What was the actual real world emissions from the offending cars or what would it have been without the test detection software taking over during the test cycle. What it

Ford/GM: still killing people. Ever looked at NOx emissions of ‘heavy duty’ trucks?

Aaaaaaaaand here come the holier-than-thou idiots who believe Elon Musk will swoop in and solve all out problems.

Doubt it. Diesel is very efficient on the highway - and planes tend to fly 1000’s of miles at a time. The numbers for like all cars combined are pretty close - with planes ahead. But a diesel car with a few passengers.. well we need someone to do the math but I’d wager the car would come out way ahead.

Without VW pushing diesels in the U.S. you wouldn’t have any diesel passenger car options either. Kind of a paradox. VW was basically carrying the torch for diesels in passenger cars in North America all by themselves for years.

Are they gonna crack down on rolling coal, too?

Do you know of any other diesel cars with the performance and fuel economy of VW TDI engines?

When the Phaeton re-appears in the US line up, we will know for sure.

Not the way he originally intended, but he still got what he wanted.

My grandmother was a secretary for GM in the late 40s and actually overheard some of the meetings between GM execs, Ford execs , and Chrysler execs about how they would systematically cut parts supplies to Tucker, slander Preston Tucker, etc. What a shame, Preston Tucker was awesome.

Or as we all know and love it today, "unintended acceleration." We know how this one went down for Toyota, and how expensive it got for them in the end.

ROMAIN!!!
