Would it? What percentage of polygamist could truly support their multiple wives and tens of kids? They would still need welfare.

There are scenarios all over the US where poly marriage are forced on people.
They gave the transparent reason. They were using assets and liabilities as formal accounting terms. Do a lot of googling on GAAP accounting standards.
That's how accounting work. Why don't you understand that? The rest of their content stays as it was deemed an asset at the sale. People are free to sue them for any of the old stories that remain.
If there isn't an indemnification clause, that's because their original Union clause didn't have one. Their contracts would have to be honored in the acquisition.
Yep.
“Do you think Gawker Media employees should feel grateful?”
Thank you for explaining this in the clearest way possible. This guy/gal has been talking out his/her ass on every post.
They don't own the gawker site. Gawker still does. Also, by taking action to move something (instead of deleting), you open yourself up to new liability.
I mean, that isn’t a real question. They took it down as soon as they took ownership. Waiting would open them up to more troubles.
I mean, it’s standard to purchase both assets and liabilities of a company. It shouldn’t be shocking they got included. Had they not, acquisition would be the new way avoid lawsuits. The only way that would really work is for the seller to indemnify the buyer.
Am I missing something or didn't it specifically state they bought the assets and aren't responsible for the liabilities? My take is Denton has to cover those losses from the proceeds of the sale.
I agree that is what Gawker is asking, but I also think it was clearly answered.
From my read though, they seem fine or are least saying the right stuff about defending new messes, just not defending the ones they didn’t make. That seems very reasonable to me. Even if he took it as a sign of weakness, that only matters if Univision caves in the future.
Yeah, why would someone want to defend some other company’s lawsuits? It doesn’t make sense. My understanding of their take is, “you are welcome to make new messes, but we aren’t cleaning up your old ones.” I realize i just said what you said.
Maybe I’m really baked right now (I am), but it seems like JK doesn’t understand that Univision bought them with the express position that they are dumping the liabilities (which is a fucking sweet deal). It isn’t a question of integrity or lack of integrity, it’s a question of whether keeping those posts up will…
Shelby. After Carroll Shelby.
Ironically, very few of the servicemen who are in these pictures actually did any fighting. The people who fought in Europe were mostly still there and the Pacific campaign people wouldn't be returning for month. The entitled guys were ones who didn't make it in theater.
I mean 8 years ago, the same people were yelling about McCain having one leg in the grave. Before that, they said the same thing about Dole. Sucks when your candidate is the one looking like she is about to die.
Just like the sniper fire she took?
