Yes and the reasonable expectation of safety at a public place is that the public place won't cause you damage (eg poorly lit floors, building collapse, blocked exits, etc). There is no reasonable expectation that they will stop a mass shooter.

Lots of addicts don’t end up with a healthy relationship with the above mentioned items. But picking an item that causes one of the more common addictions probably isn't the best way to start. The addicts that handle sobriety well often channel there addictive behavior into healthier preoccupations.
