Still I feel experimental is a word being used here that exists outside of her discography alone. Literally just cos she did things she’s never done doesn’t take away the fact that everything she’s done has been done by ppl more interestingly years prior. “Different” would be more appropriate than experimental and

For a guy that basically does everything except sing lead vocals, Jack Antonoff certainly doesn’t get mentioned enough. If this were any other genre than pop, then he would be the namesake of the music.

Yeah, remember when apologies for when you did something wrong? Paramore shouldn’t have to apologize for things outside of their control.

I hum it every time I see a helicopter in the sky a la MST3K.

This really is one of Charles’s finest moments. The whole plot really gets at the meat of some of his weaknesses and challenges him to overcome them, and in a way that is so unique and specific to him (music). I love it.

Hard to argue with the picks for Hawkeye and Margaret - though another one I love for Hawkeye is Bottle Fatigue. (Sticky Wicket is one of my favorite early Hawkeye episodes because it’s the first time they really challenge his massive ego and paint him as actually being flawed.)

Being from Boston was a pretty important part of his identity, not really a nitpick in an article about M*A*S*H characters.

I think that AVClub writers purposely insert small errors in their articles to bait the grumpy nitpickers in the comment section. No offense.

Most people don’t know East coast/New England people’s spoke in a Mid-Atlantic accent all the way up to WWII. Sadly, because most of the teachers who taught that way of speech died in WWII, Mid-Atlantic speech declined thereafter.

M*A*S*H is the oldest TV show I’ve ever watched in its entirety, and a great deal of it holds up really well. Great to see a list here about it :)

Charles Emmerson Winchester III was NOT a Brit. He was very famously from Boston -- hence the uppercrustean accent.

“Why? Why must I feel pain at only 8 weeks?!? Won’t some courageous right-wing legislators save me!?”

I don’t know how the reporting on THIS story would be different, as it is a responsible and even-handed reporting job.

Right. Because cheating is absolutely akin...to arson. Right. Your analogy totally works better than mine.

So if he slapped her how would the reporting on this story be different, and how would the reaction be different?

My guess is a lot. A lot different. She should be cancelled. Whatever that means. He would be.

Yes you do.

Not only is it not okay to hit anyone, regardless of the accusations, she was also under the influence. So possibly, things were more stressful than a “couple of slaps”:

Yes you do!!!!

This article is incredibly even-handed. Seriously, well done. This is good pop culture reporting.
