There was the planned Rogue Squadron movie, but a Wraith Squadron series makes more sense. As both a commando team and pilots, they could be involved in covert missions similar to the heist in Andor. This helps keep the costs down, by not relying on effects shots so heavily.

The ship in Prodigy is not a refit of Voyager, it’s the Voyager-A, a considerably larger Lamarr-class ship (named for Hedy Lamarr). Picard established, and the season 2 premiere mentioned, that the original Voyager is in the Fleet Museum now.

In Starfleet ‘flagship’ is really just a gold sticker that says ‘our most favoritest of ships’. Its fleets are just ‘here’s a bunch of ships’. Which is fine! Starfleet’s not supposed to be a military navy. They fill that role but that’s not what they’re designed to be.

They use the old EU the same way the mcu uses the comics. Mine it for good stories/ characters/ other world building or whatever, and then turn it into whatever new thing.
