It very much was. In fact, of you look closely at the outline of the hologram the maguffin projected on Seatos, you’ll see it’s rimmed with images that resemble purgills.

Even if, as Huyang says, Sabine has less Jedi ability than any padawan he’s ever seen in history. (Which, quick aside, is a pretty messed up thing for him to say even if it gives Sabine that much more room to grow.)

I really enjoyed the show and the start it is off to. Felt like the characters were actually progressing and things were happening instead of set ups.

OTOH I can totally picture those titles on the covers of old ‘80s sci-fi paperbacks and that actually makes me excited for this, somewhat.

Does it make anything in your life better to talk to strangers like that?

“You maniacs! You neutered the G rating! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!”

Forgetting about There’s Something About Mary, Mulan, The Mask of Zorro, and Blade, really hurt your 1998 case. However you feel about Armageddon, it WAS popular, and I’ve found Deep Impact has aged nicely as one of the better disaster movies in the genre. This is an awful tragedy caused by stupidity, bigotry and gun culture.

For me, Taika Waititi is not the right director for Thor. He doesn’t understand that ALWAYS going for the joke is not the right approach. This is the big difference between Waititi and James Gunn. While many criticized the Guardians of the Galaxy films for not taking things too seriously, I would argue that Gunn knows

So yes, for the first time ever Star Wars fans—at least in the United States—will very easily be able to watch the show, in real time, all together, at a reasonable hour, six hours earlier than all the other Star Wars shows had been debuting over the past four years.

I’d argue that the comment section interaction, particularly from the authors, is what got all of these sites to their current prominence. The writers who regularly did that are pretty much all long gone though...

I don’t know that “management will find a way to ruin them,” but it’s very clear that comments are about the lowest priority thing around here.  I’m very baffled by it because once upon a time io9, etc. had very active comment sections and you’d think that would attract traffic to the site.
