AMEN! Why so many people are missing this point you made is beyond me. In fact it is an insult even suggesting this piece of garbage could ever possibly widen any discussion about race (or domestic violence or mental illness or for that matter even reality TV). And regarding Orange Is The New Black how could anyone

The show being created by two women and then look how all the women on the show are depicted like victims or whores or more often than not both. And when you have actors like Appleby and Zimmer I mean that would have been a great show focusing on them instead of all this garbage about Chet and Jeremy and it really is

I know what you mean. I have yet to watch episode 8, 9 or 10 yet. I really hope it is cancelled because I hate to see two of my favorite actresses have their talent completed wasted.

Yes the correct way is to have writers up to the task and the writers on this piece of crap are clearly not up to that task. This last episode was beyond insulting. And not just to black people with the way it was handled. In fact women should be up in arms as they also drop the ball on dealing with domestic abuse.

I could not agree more. This show had some real promise if only they had focused on their two powerful lead actors (Appleby and Zimmer) instead they made it so damn convoluted with these idiotic side stories. Why wasn't Chet done in season one? And Jeremy? And you can always tell bad writing when they go to domestic

The second season has been pretty awful and with this episode they have jumped the proverbial shark. They are not widening any conversation. All they're doing is exploiting it.
