0.00. In English, ZERO POINT ZERO FUCKING ZERO. We’re inundated with garbage political opinions all goddamn day long, and this place was my only respite from political tribery. Autoblog is written by people who don’t own, drive, or ever seen cars, and Road and Track is the only other place i take a look. Jalopnik has…
I’m not really a fan of injecting politics into sports because it further divides people. Sports are meant to bring people together (left & right) as one cheering for the same team or same driver.
You are a beacon of tolerance.
You’re right. It was ‘Smash Racism’, an ‘anti-fascist’ group that knocked on the door, mentioned a pipe bomb, and attempted to intimidate and threaten his family at their home. You’re right, totally acceptable.
We aren’t the ones shouting down speakers at college campuses. Also, facts shouldn’t be offensive, unless you aren’t willing to change your mind. In which case, what’s the point of rational discussion?
The Nascar of yesterday which raced actual production cars was fascinating, but today’s Nascar based on vehicles that have about as much in common with what ends up in showrooms as your average washing machine holds zero interest for me, so it really doesn’t impact me either way.
Couldn’t agree more. I (used to) come to Jalopnik to get my daily automotive info and entertainment, but especially this past year, they have been so politics-heavy (especially in their bias) that it’s just been eye-rollingly annoying and tiresome.
Counterpoint - how much politics do we want to see slip into an automotive journalist website? I don’t care if the Mustang driver had an abortion or not, I just want to see it fishtail and crash, and then read some reviews of new vehicles coming out.
Can’t star this enough. I come to this website for car enthusiast news and articles not political opinions and activism.
Zero. The only thing I want to involve politics is politics. It screws up everything.
I know it’s not the correct response, but I wish Jalopnik itself would dial back the activism. This site is best when it’s a nice respite from reality, where we share in the love of cars and motorsports. Too often now it’s being dragged into the same hyper-political climate of mocking and finger wagging.
None. Shut up and steer.
Short answer: Ideally: zero.
That goes for all other sports as well, IMO.
You would be fine with this ad if it was for the Democratic candidate promising to piss all over the American dream.
IT’S FUKKEN HELLA SWEET IS WHAT IT IS
