Yes, to the extent that when TFG first appeared on the scene, it was seen as a hilarious comedy act for way too long until it was too late.

After all the casual mass murder they had her doing in the last film, I can’t imagine her being much of a sympathetic character again.

When I find myself

I used to love the pre-1948 WB cartoons that TNT used to show back in the 80s-90s, partially because Daffy actually got to win the day in a lot of those, often getting the kind of role that Bugs Bunny would get in the later ones. Except that unlike Bugs, Daffy was batshit insane. Woo hoo woo hoo!

Damn, I hadn’t even thought of this parallel (mainly because we already knew Saul from Breaking Bad, years ago), but you’re right, it does fit perfectly. The conman that has just enough charisma to make people want to root for him despite being a thoroughly evil SOB.

Have to ask, just out of curiosity: is the “Bountiful Heart” character also changed to be an annoying “Relentless Martial Artist” in the Japanese version, or is he still as creepy/pervy as he was in the SNES version?

When I read it, I figured that it was going to have been one of the players, which would mean that the entire first season would retroactively serve as a “fridging” to give this new character some motivation.

Don’t forget Star Trek: Nemesis

Pretty sure “The” is part of the official title of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert...

And unlike some other homages, it doesn’t pull any emotional punches (I’m looking at you, “Chain of Command”).

If they wanted to make something based on a Bungie series, they should have gone with the one that had an actually interesting storyline (*cough* Marathon *cough*).

As long as are arbitrarily not using certain parts of speech, propose that get rid of pronouns as well!

They _did_ show. There’s a video player embedded right in the article.

I never saw any of the Star Wars movies in the theater because of the Force being a non-Christian religion, and therefore Satanic, but I did catch the second half of The Empire Strikes Back on TV, completely out of context, and I came away with the impression that Star Wars was a very bleak, serious, and dark

Disappointed that the old Colbert clip doesn’t seem to be on YouTube anymore, but still...

I wouldn’t presume to pry inside the writers’ minds, but my supposition is that it was written, at least in part, to come up with a convincing explanation for why the Doctor is suddenly able to regenerate well past 12 times, when the show had been insisting for the past 40-odd years that he can’t.

> A key objection was that ultimately in the grand scheme of things, the Doctor when all was said and done was just this guy and yet he did great things regardless.

“It’s the same thing holding back Star Wars and Doctor Who. Endlessly clinging to past glories instead of moving forward.”

😳

Not so! What about the 1990 season based on SMB3 (with wrong names for all the Koopa Kids), and the 1991 season based on Super Mario World, with the inexplicable annoying caveman character in it?
