I wonder if he understands that being wormy and evasive actually makes this more freaky than it already was.

Unbearable.

In thelll past, the wind was at their backs. It was easier to keep people like this one — reassigning them to other roles or just browbeating victims into silence. At the current cultural moment, the winds have shifted and execs now feel like doing nothing is more dangerous than taking action.

There are a few scenes that are hard to watch in the context of these accusations. If you’re really interested you can still give it a try though; it is/was a good show overall in my opinion.

My theory — his reputation was already so poor that anyone who is with him now probably will be no matter what he does. A lot of these other celebrities have/had more general public support in addition to their hardcore fan base. They had more to lose than someone like Trump.

No one watched “animorphs”.

A blind item is a news story (usually gossip) that doesn’t name anyone involved. A good relevant example is the original Gawker article about Louis CK, which describes the sexual harassment without using Louis CK’s name or the names of the victims or witnesses.

I’m sure he didn’t mean it, but he basically just denied the divinity of Christ. Im surprised that a strident and vocal atheist would be elected in Alabama.

Is it hard to make Rand Paul look like Big Bird?

She means that the tuition waiver that some graduate assistants receive would be taxed as income. Under current law, even though it’s a benefit it’s excluded from gross income and grad students don’t pay taxes on it (similar to how other employees aren’t taxed in the value of their employer provided health insurance).

It might be. I think culturally, there’s generally an attitude that it’s fine to marry off young girls to much older men. We tend to think of that as being something that you see in polygamist FLDS compounds, but the idea is widely accepted all over the country, to the point where it’s acfually difficult to outlaw it.

this must be that internalized sexism.

Yeah exactly! This isn’t something that’s confined to third world countries or similar places; it’s an eerily common and generally accepted POV in much of the country. Whenever you hear about those underage marriage laws, there’s always a lot of really aggressive pushback in favor of keeping it legal and they usually

I really hope it goes our way. Moore has had a fairly long track record of getting away with stuff but maybe his luck really will run out now. The Public tolerance for sexual violence is at its lowest level that I’ve personally ever seen, so maybe that might tip things.

I thought of that too, and its too upsetting to research.

My least favorite type of internet comment is, “why haven’t you covered this topic?? It must be a conspiracy of silence!” Thanks for having the receipts.

Honestly, there’s a pretty good chance that people — like the mothers of some of the girls!! — will consider this a normal and reasonable thing for a man to do. They won’t see him as a predator, just an opportunity for their daughters to be together with a man who has a promising career.

If they thought she was telling the truth, I don’t know if they would mind all that much. I mean, we had Trump on tape bragging about sexual assault and all he had to do was grumble out a resentful apology and he was good to go.

That makes sense. Yeah I think Trump should be safe from jury duty for the most part.

Jesus that freaked me out just reading about it. I can’t imagine actually watching someone drown and not being bothered and actively trying to make sure that they died.
