No noise of any kind is preferred. No grunting, wheezing, sounds coming from other people's phones (especially the noise for typing a text - who leaves that on?).

Same for me, although the opposite side of the bathroom wall with the toilet was the front of a classroom. If I could hear the Japanese teacher writing on the board with chalk, then … .
