And Wal-Mart will soon have an Equate version of the Silverado as well!

I remember when Honda came out with the Mugen Si. It was about 8k more than a regular Si and there were dealers getting 10-15k over list price. Now, imagine what a Type R will cost. If a Mugen cost around 28k back in 2008, then a Type R will be stratospheric. And, I am disappointed by the numbers. 0-60 in 5.7 seconds?

Wow, you are really clever. Did you just think up that witty comment? I assume you were looking in a mirror when you posted...

Actually, you need to chill. You took issue with me, not the other way around. If you have an issue with people from TOP GUN, take it to them, not me. Just because I saw the movie does not make me a part of Miramar and F14s.

Oh, I have panicked in my life, but I also have never done something like this to cause me to panic. I have panicked because I was late making a payment or because water 6" deep was in my bedroom, but never have I panicked because I did something as careless, reckless and stupid as this. Oh, I have been caught

What a great story. Glad to see that things were made right for the couple. Kudos to Right Way Automotive. I hope they have more customers than they have cars to sell so that the business will thrive.

I remember that episode. Grandpa had such a cool hot rod called, "Drag-U-La". And yes, it was filmed at Lions. Thanks again for the walk down memory lane.

So, do you want a medal or something? Just because I quickly typed out TOP GUN as "Topgun", is it worth it? I even said in my post that the training had been moved to Nevada. It is just not called TOP GUN anymore. Sheesh...

I am sure he felt that way. Still, leaving the scene when you know what you did is a very dishonorable thing to do. Man up and admit what you did. That is the risk you take when you drag race on public streets lined with people.

I have a book on all the tracks that have closed over the years. Where I live, we used to have 2 drag strips within a reasonable distance for most people to go to. They were busy and active throughout the week. I actually remember Lions, Orange County and LA County. They were famous in the 1960s. Thanks for sharing.

First of all, I watched the movie about a zillion times in a theater. Second, I have the movie on both VHS tape and DVD. Third, I have caps and shirts. Fourth, I have been to Miramar and have watched F14s land and take off. I typed in a hurry, but thanks for making an ass out of yourself. And, it is no longer called,

Oh kay...

And this jerk thought that he could flee from the police and not be caught? They had his car and knew who he was. I hope they throw the book at him. Besides driving recklessly and killing 2 people, he makes all car enthusiasts look bad. It is one thing to have fun with a car and bang off a few gears out on an open

Back in the 80s, there was a driver who was famous for crashes. His name was Andrea deCesaris. He was nicknamed, "Andrea deCrasheris" by some wags. I personally liked the guy and enjoyed his driving, but other cars as well as walls seemed magnetic for him. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.ph…

Sounds to me like you have first hand experience...

Truth hurts, doesn't it?

Yes, it would.

I knew someone would say that. Chop shops part out cars because there is more money there. Pretty hard to chop up a tube framed, composite bodied car.

Best post here. Not only do I agree with everything you said, but I too remember those people you mentioned. I was actually going to write something similar to what you said, but after I read your post, no need to.

Met Jochen at the 1977 Canadian GP at Mosport. Very nice guy and a great competitor.
