Sounds like you work for AutoNation. Am I right? Nice advertising for them.

I think Fernando is doing this just to play with the media and let them speculate about why he is at the WEC race. He is a great poker player, but a few quips by him make it clear he really wants to stay in F1.
Well, that is good for Toyota. They have a great team. However, they won the battles, but lost the war because everything seems to focus on LeMans. When Ford went to LeMans from 1964 to 1967 and then on with Wyer in 68 to 69, they were mainly interested in winning LeMans and not winning a championship. In fact, in 66…
Umm, I am no tire kicker. The point is that giving credit card information to take a test drive is a little over the top, wouldn't you say? The only way one can really know whether a car is suitable is to test drive it. In fact, if I am more in a tire kicker mode, I actually have salespeople trying to get me to test…
Good one!
Sad day indeed. They were much appreciated by Naval aviators during the Viet Nam war. They were also notable in sorties against the Libyans in 1986 and later in Desert Shield. Glad to see that the Marines will carry on with the plane though.
Well, you would have to be rich or the son of Saudi royalty to escape lashes or beheadings for this kind of driving.
Well, not sure what to make of this. Delaying the seeming inevitable closure of the team reminds me of the Dutch Boy putting his finger in the dike to stop the onrush of the flood coming in. Bernie does not care and neither do the top teams. F1 us burning and Bernie is fiddling. Come to think of it, Bernie would have…
I am old enough to remember [cough, cough] when Muscle Cars were brand new. As you said, there were only a few models on the showroom floor. And, the lots had a much smaller inventory than they do today. New cars came out just after Labor Day. It was a big deal to go to a dealership and see the new models for that…
I have never been a fan of F&F. I have seen all the movies as reruns on TV. Never went to a theater to see any of them. So, I probably have all of them out of order. I am missing the context of the film evolution to get a proper perspective I guess.
I thought the Saudi authorities were trying to clamp down on this with lashes and even beheadings in some cases. Seems like this is a way for rich, young men to show off their driving skills even if it is public endangerment.
I love mystery movies....
I hope so. Maybe F&F can reinvent itself, which is not necessarily a bad thing. See, I still have mental pictures of massive NOS bottles squirting Nitrous Oxide in copious amounts into 4 cylinder engines that then makes the cars go into hyper space. Or, the "VTEC just kicked in, Yo". Or even worse, tuner cars with…
True that. But, if you think about German espionage in Sweden during WW2 and it turning a blind eye to it, Sweden's neutrality has always been questionable. Russia is posturing for a place on the world stage and its blustery attitude is not winning many friends. If a bear is injured and feels threatened, look out.…
Dude, I am so square, I look like Sponge Bob.
Great point. But, to answer my question, are the film makers going to do anything to try and get a new generation of viewers? The original Fast and Furious was a hit with those barely able to drive and even younger. Will the next film have that same appeal?
You are right, but the tuner crowd legacy seems to linger on. I would hope for a more contemporary movie made up of not only old Muscle Cars and tuner cars, but the new breed of each of them as well.
Yes, I have seen the movies. I am sure there will be a shift to newer, more expensive tuner cars and maybe a few American Muscle cars like a Shelby GT500, ZL1 or even a Hellcat. The thing is though is that the original film and the early sequels catered to the tuner crowd. Now maybe that same tuner crowd of a decade…
I don't see any similarity between the Finns and the Swedes. The Finnish aversion to Russians, especially Communist Russians was well known. This animosity, plus support from the Germans led to the Finns putting up fierce resistance to the Soviets. I fail to see the equivalence with Sweden.
So, who will these movies be appealing to in the next 5 to 10 years? The tuner crowd has changed dramatically since the late 90s and first part of the new millenium. I suppose there are thousands of clapped out Hondas with ridiculous body work that are still around where Fast and Furious has an appeal. But, cheap,…
