What a shame. The loss of a pilot and plane is always a sad situation. I hope we can find out what happened to cause this tragic loss of life. My condolences to his family.

Another superb informative article. Tyler Rogoway for Secretary of Defense!
Good. Glad to see Tony getting back into the helm of the #14 car. Nothing can bring back Kevin Ward and life goes on. I am sure that Tony will probably never be the same again though. Even if there is no criminal action taken, there will no doubt be a civil law suit. Tony would best settle with the family [not…
Yup, forgot the show name. I was thinking of the original Buck Rogers. Thanks for the memory refresh.
I had forgotten about that R390 GT1 car. Similar to the Porsche GT1 road car or the Mercedes CLK GTR. Moar pics please!
Anything that keeps pilots out of harm's way is a good thing. I wish we had had that technology during the Viet Nam war so that unmanned planes and drones could have inflicted damage on the enemy without all those pilots either killed or spending time in the Hanoi Hilton. Who could have imagined that Star Wars and…
F106 was a hotter version of the F102. Being a boy growing up in the 50s and seeing them fly, the delta planes were pure space age fantasy. If you want to see either plane, get the Steve Canyon DVDs which was an epic TV series in the 50s.
Coca Cola is still around, but nothing like the original. What we have for Top Gun today is silly considering the firepower of Russia and China, but I digress...
I agree in point and am aware of the dumbed down version in Nevada. However, it pales in comparison to the all out dogfights that came out of Miramar during the Viet Nam War and up to its emasculation.
Reminds me when I was a dumb kid [still am sometimes] and I along with a a large group of friends with bows and arrows and nothing to shoot at decided it would be keen to shoot straight up in the air. Well, one arrow landed right in the midst of us, which of course scared us but delighted us as well. Then, the Robin…
Always feel a twinge of sadness to see what was once a very formidable plane, now relegated to drone duty. I almost used to cry when I saw Century fighters like the F102 and F106 being used as drones and ultimately being shot out of the sky. Still, what a great way for realistic practice with SAMS and air to air…
This should be common knowledge that every year, people with the fastest street cars in America show up in March in Houston, Texas to race officially and not so officially. The event is put on by 1320 video run by Kyle Loftis, who is a all around good guy and true gearhead. He is the man behind the camera and the…
Thank the despots at the EPA and NHTSA for not allowing a vehicle like this into the U.S. market. While the drivetrain could probably be emissions compliant, the safety people would be all over this like flies on rotting flesh and if even one person got hurt in one, the lawyers would be all over it like a cheap suit…
I did and it was glorious. However, being 18 in 1970 without the money to buy one of these cars was as frustrating as not being able to buy a new Viper or ZR-1 Corvette today.
I don't like the direction things are going with China and Russia. 20 feet is nothing when flying. And a barrel roll and a 90 degree break in front of the P8 could have been catastrophic to both planes. Protests can be filed, but this is going to get ugly I am afraid.
Perfect. Comment of the day.
What a shame. Always hate to see things like this.
And not just any one of the 49 rare ones. This one was a Brumos Porsche driven by Peter Gregg. Number 59 is legendary.
I remember the first time I saw a Miura in person on the road. I was driving a 427 Corvette at the time, which an outrageous looking car for the late 60s and early 70s. However, the Miura looked extraterrestrial in comparison. The Miura was Ferruccio's way of sticking it to Enzo.
Reminds me of Derek Bell's In-car 956 video. I have a Beta video of this race as it was broadcast on ESPN in 1985. So sad when Stefan Bellof died as he was such a great talent.
