@snorkelingsarcosuchus001: Stupid, why do you think it would break apart? Do you not think that the designers thought to design so that it would not break apart and determined this by more than looking at a picture? The mounting SpaceshipTwo makes lots of sense Stupid. You want it on the centerline so that the

@DoogieFullHouser: Except the current elise family uses steel pedals that are actually lighter. Kinda of a shame because they are not as pretty.

Is anyone else confused by the warning text? It asks to avoid operating the doors and the bonnet at the same time with no power, but then says this is to avoid scratching the hood. I am guessing they are interchaning hood and bonnet. Unless of course this car has a some manner of dainty hat, then it makes sense.

@Pessimippopotamus: Glad I bought it when it came out. Because it is an excellent book.

@Pessimippopotamus: This is the pedal set I thought of immediately when I saw this topic.

Why would an immortal vampire drive a volvo?

@ozyran: BMW is just a sponsor, they do not design or build the boats. #bmw

@abgwin: Yea, what is going on here. I am obviously out of the loop, because I thought the rules were for monohulls. Did the rules change?

I can only assume they are moving on to another form of motorsports where they can develop technologies relevant to their road cars.

@wheatieboy: The problem is what version of the Evo set that n'ring time. Even ignoring that the Evo X is slower than the IX, so in reality, it is probably much more than an 12 second difference.

@BaldwinPeriphetes: While the weight of the Evora may lead you to believe that it is a sedan, counting the doors reveals that it is in fact a coupe.

@Wes Siler: The output of the transaxle does not need to be lowered. Since they are designing from scratch, they could design it how they want. There are transmissions that have the input shafts lower than the output. #lexuslfa

@jodark: Currently the engineers are addressing the soul and passion requirements. Simulation currently being run show a 154.7% increase in soul and 204.9% increase in passion for the software updates planned to be available prior to delivery to customers. #lexuslfa

@got_torque: A boxer engine would not lower the center of gravity. A boxer engine needs to raised to allow the exhaust headers to exist. Also they need larger sumps (even when dry sumped) to keep the oil from collecting in one of the heads. So you end up with an engine that is higher than an equivalent V8 engine,

I do not think that the counter gear system is to allow the engine to be mounted lower. Looking at the transaxle, there is no reason the imput to the transaxle could not be lowered to the same height as the crank. Especially since the transaxle is bespoke.

I really enjoyed how Rick Wagoner, who I postulate was made CEO because his last names sounds like a chevy model, warned against hiring an outsider because Mulally called him and asked him lots of questions.

@Ben Wojdyla: No, you were correct, it is pinned and bolted. They use hollow dowels to lock all of the pieces together and then a bolt is run through the dowel. This is the correct way to do it. You would not want just a bolt taking all of the shear load. This way the bolts are simply loaded into tension.

@cyberquog: Nobody makes large vehicles that are used every day and made of aluminum pieces that are mechanically joined. Other than airplanes of course. You can design for fatigue. You just need to combine it with inspections. Of course it is mostly billet for the pretty factor, instead of using lots of sheets

@H2H: I really do not see how you could say that. HD has been very profitable with an incrediable strong brand and following. They have been very good at fixing weakness and keeping the brand strong.

This is a very sad day. I had some great experiences dealing with Buell engineers. They bent overbackwards to support our FSAE team with lots of parts free of charge that could not be found anywhere. Every interaction I had with Buell was positive and impressive, experiences with Harley people were many times less
