Fuck around and find out, I guess. Most of them won’t last longer than a year.

I don’t disagree that the industry needs someone to be artsy and experiment, I just don’t feel like that should be kojima. He’s had so many tries at it and the results are just sort of “meh”. I think he could do better if he reigned it in a bit.
Like I get the idea, its bad, but no need to have such a misleading headline. They are ignoring identity and forcing people to use the gender they were born with on their license and those that use their identity will be charged with fraud. I’m not sure how gender reassignment works and how legal papers change along…
can he stop trying to be all deep and artsy and just make a game this time? don’t think about things too hard Kojima, the results haven’t been good in a LONG time.
“New Platforms Are Good For Us”
Not at all. It just makes it difficult to convince those with money to fund a VR game.
There may be tht many out there, but only a fraction are getting used. I speak as one of the people who bought a VR headset when I say I never fucking use the thing. It was good for a bit but the quality of life just isnt there for most people. I’ll dust it off like once in a blue moon, but itll go back in the closet…
I mean if you are talking pure profits being the measure of success, a bit, yeah. But if you are talking brand awareness and cultural relevance, sega is pure garbage these days.
If they think with their greed, there will not be an oled model until 2 years in or so. They know people are weak willed enough theyll buy whatever they launch and will buy it again when an oled model comes out.
It was overshadowed for good reason. It’s not a good game, and there were much better games coming out soon after. Though I wouldnt count Starfield among the games that overshadowed it either. It might actually be a worse game.
“the anti-Rowling crowd was risking boosting the game via Streisand Effect and also creating a thing for culture warriors to turn into a rallying point.”
It was a risk, that was ignored. As a result it DID turn into a rallying point, hence the sales. It’s really a pretty mediocre game and yet again proves sales does…
Just goes to show, most consumers have terrible taste.
Sorry, not sorry, Ubisoft. The moment you release a game I can’t own is the day I don’t buy it, no matter how well-reviewed it is. I’ll vote with my wallet. Granted I understand I can lose that vote, because theres a bunch of weak-willed kids with no self control and an ever-growing sense of FOMO.
“Does big tech think video game characters only exist to waste our time?”
you’d be surprised how many apologists still exist for this game.
On one hand, I agree, on the other hand, I know stupid humans will always exist. Its how we got Trump supporters. We could have a real-life genocidal group of alien invaders attacking Earth, and you can bet there will be an outspoken group of humans who think we should surrender and let them do whatever they want, and…
IDK, I think it’s less than the ai itself sucks. It’s just more like real-life people.... and conversations with most real-life people suck.
Astarion from BG3 is a character who’s been through a lot and on top has a vivid personality designed to entertain the player. AI chat bots on the other hand are designed to have…
No, sorry but BG3 deserves the number 1 spot. I get there's a portion of the gaming community not used to the style of gameplay. I get that it swept most gaming awards this year so there's suddenly this feeling of it being a gaming Goliath and anything else up against it is like David. But the sheer effort, attention…
Starfield should get its own entry on this list, right next to all the disappointment when a better game swept all the game awards when so many wanted to see a game that was “just decent” win due to platform fanboyism.
Lets not forget though that while development costs have gone up, profits have skyrocketed WAY more. I’m fine with paying $10 more, mostly because I don’t buy new anymore unless the game has earned the full purchase price (like BG3), but I’d rather see that happening than the continued dominance in-game purchases, and…
