The Catholics, at least, can stop promoting abstinence-only sex ed and limited birth control options. Keeping people ignorant pretty much ensures an increased need for orphanage and other related services.

Pretty much nepotism. When you can call up one of the top investment firms in the country and say, "Hi, we have a student here from you fraternity who you've never met and know nothing about, but would like a job," and is given one, it's all worth it.
One of the problems with this argument is that it puts a limit on women's sexuality. We'd all have to be very careful with how we express ourselves, lest one of us overstep the bounds and somehow trigger men's harassment for the gender as a whole. I'd prefer that we not police each other's sexuality.
At some universities, you have to come back early from winter break to rush. Who gives up winter break for this nonsense?
Being able to look up lyrics is one of the best things about the Internet.
Hm. I've never had any difficultly having lids replaced, so maybe it's worth a shot anyway? Thanks for the info.

I've dropped my mugs a lot, but have never seen them shatter. And the lids are covered under warranty. I had one replaced for free because it started leaking. Just contact the folks on the Contigo site and they'll send you a replacement.

Sure. But lots of people are doing that reverse racism nonsense, implying that folks who identify Crips with Black people are actually the racists, not the jackwagons who threw/attended the party. Racism as a result of ignorance is still racism.
The article makes the statement "The African American gang 'Crips'", but I don't recall that ever being a requirement of the gang, or something they're known as their mantra.
One of the defining aspects of the Crips is that they are a predominantly black gang; this is well-known to anyone with a passing knowledge of gang history and culture. Just as it's not racist to equate members of Sur 13 with Mexicans (because it is a predominantly Mexican gang formed in Mexico), it's not racist to…
In addition, alumni don't want their frats monitored. I've worked at universities where frats are out of control and while they don't want university oversight, they're also completely unwilling to allow an adult (even an alum) live in the house to provide some oversight. They want absolutely nothing to do with the…
That's pretty much been my experience with frats. Pony up cash, the vast majority of which goes to buying liquor, and in return men get access to test/paper banks and future career nepotism. I can't speak well to sororities, but that's how I've seen many of the bigger/more powerful fraternities function.
They were in their 20s, so it's not as weird as it could be. Still, I think it would be a very odd experience to be having sex with your new stepfather's daughter under their roof.
Stepsiblings, yo. I have an acquaintance who fell in love with, dated, and married his stepsister, all of which happened while they and their parents were living in the same house. He's generally a nice guy, but this seems like a fairly significant lapse in judgment.
I think there a lot of variables. I grew up in a low SES, rural area where people of color and immigrants were the majority. I very rarely got catcalled, I think because (a) there was a cultural value of respect and (2) with such a low population, I probably knew the guy's mother or grandmother, and the idea of a…
Redacted, because I shouldn't have replied to a post so obviously asinine.
I hear this. I'm really short myself, so I'm at nose height for a lot of people. My hair smells good because I need a lot of product to tame my curls, and I often have men (and women, on occasion) lean in and sniff me and pull my curls without permission. Being sniffed from behind by a stranger who looms over me by a…
Low voter turnout is a part of it, but I think more significant is the fact that few people without great personal wealth can afford to run/serve. Older white men are probably the most likely demographic to be able to afford being in office.
Excellent point, and it makes me wonder what voting looks like in other places. My parents were regularly shuffled between two or three polling places every election, despite having done their due diligence first. I couldn't find the hours for my polling place online yesterday, and I couldn't get someone from the…
I'm not a college student, but that's me: mid-30s, never voted, not sure when or how. I couldn't even find the hours for my local polling place, so I likely won't make it out to the polls tomorrow. I'd like to vote to honor the women who fought so hard for the right to do so, but I've found the entire voting process…
