Me am Bizarro Andorian...

That’s one of the problems that Star Trek (and Star Wars) has at present. It’s focused on callbacks/connections at the expense of building the world out, and only serves to make the whole universe feel smaller. Like, Micheal Burnham. She could have been a human raised by Vulcans, but then they had to go the extra step

I think fans are pretty good at just going with the flow and enjoying the product.

No, he just insisted that everyone else move in slow motion.

jk people just choose to be homeless for shits. That’s how it works (this is utter sarcasm).

Usually people who don’t have addiction problems completely fail to understand the point I just made so you’d be forgiven for not understanding.

However I’m certain there’s a lot of homeless people who would hollar ‘preach’ at what I just said.

I mean.... speaking as someone who has alcoholics in their family.... being an alcoholic can cloud your judgement and produce odd comments and opinions from you for years before you “wake up”. Blaming it on his alcoholism isn’t a thing he should own his behaviour but..... I wouldn’t dismiss the power of alcoholism by

Big bonus: for the six month subscription they’ll finally explain how they eat and breath.

They better not trim the tour around Enterprise. That sequence is GLORIOUS and 100% not the least bit extraneous.

It strikes me as kind of funny how he does this when he stows away in the little cubbyhole on Padme’s ship.

Watched this movie for the first time last night and I got to say it felt weird. Like, the big emotional beats generally landed but they felt muffled by how much of the movie is pulling from an existing knowledge and affection for entirely different movie series. I enjoyed Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman but I haven’t

They really just keeping making the same game over and over with different skins.

“What about Maul?” - Disney tries their hand with a classic sitcom format, set in the Star Wars Universe. It follows Darth Maul, a recent paraplegic, due to an accident at work, as he struggles to find a balance between old ambition and new goals. Hilarity ensues.

Yeah, I felt the same way when I saw Wizard of Oz on TV for the first time back around 1979 or so. At the time my brain didn’t have any context for “this is an old movie” (like knowing who Judy Garland was) so it didn’t come off as such. Also, most of it is set in a fantasy world, so I didn’t have any of the markers

Narrator: This...is Paul. Paul has been cast as an iconic character from an iconic television show. Tens of thousands of people are extremely angry at Paul, because they were not consulted in his casting. Tens of thousands of people are hopeful that Paul will do justice to the role. Paul? He’s just happy to be working.

this is also a show I would like to watch

that’s the show I wanted to watch

Ugh. I was really hoping they’d save Kirk for the series finale. Like the very end.

After the last mission, cut into Pike’s ready room where he’s discussing the ship and crew, then he stands up and wishes someone good luck, then the camera pans and there’s young Kirk.

Look, if they give us Actual Source Material Kirk rather than Pop Culture Caricature Kirk, I’m not gonna complain.
