I’ll offer a divergent opinion.

Completely agree.

You did lead with a qualifier, Jill. No need to CYA with this one.

That’s not why it was depressing. I mean, sure, we all wanted to see him finally make it home, but it was totally in line with his character that he wanted to continue helping people.

I just re-watched finale the other day and was thinking about how it was a shame they got cancelled before they got to explore what the version of Sam leaping as himself would have meant. Seemed like some interesting possibilities there. I’d totally watch a re-boot that pretends the final screen text never happened.

Now playing

This bit in Superman III traumatised  me as a kid.

There’s also the fact that Lynch’s Dune is generally considered to be a gigantic misfire (I like it though; waiting on my Arrow 4K edition this afternoon), and Villeneuve is doing right by the novel this time, making a version that’s not only more faithful to the source material but also more satisfying as a movie,

Well, I dunno. Del Toro is an extremely literate filmmaker, which is unusual not just for genre directors but filmmakers in general. He might have seen the Tyrone Power movie first on TV when he was a kid. But I imagine he also has read the William Lindsay Gresham novel, and is aiming to be closer to the original

“Remakes” and “reboots” don’t apply to adaptation. If someone makes a new version of Hamlet, nobody’s gonna call that a “remake.”

Define “reboot”. It’s as stated, the second movie adapted from a book.

Nobody will want to ever be called a “geek” after this movie comes out. I guarantee you the word will disappear from the popular lexicon overnight.

I’m always surprised when an article is about a movie that GDT made rather than one he’s going to make.

When I was a kid I had a VHS tape with recorded TV broadcasts of Flight of the Navigator and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, and it took me far too many runs of that tape to realize Paul Reubens was in both of them.

I’ve always loved the movie for the creepy realistic tone of its first half. The scene where David comes home

When I got Disney+, I had a number of friends recommend Flight of the Navigator as a nostalgia trip, and it was indeed one of the first movies that came to mind when I started to dig through “the vault.” I’ve definitely seen Flight of the Navigator, but my memories of it are hazy, and I’m pretty confident it was a

Spoiler TV also has photos from “Home,” the eighth episode of Titans’ third season.

I think by going the way they did with Venom, they abandoned one of the most aspects of not just Venom, but his role in the stories of Peter, Eddie, and Flash Thompson. Venom is a story about bad relationships and recovering from them.

Race ain’t got nothing to do with Grandpa Joe’s coke habit.

I think the MOW episodes are sound. The UFO/Syndicate arc went downhill after the first movie and should have been resolved in favor of some other storyline, maybe something supernatural. (Like, say, picking up Millennium’s plot for real.)

I was thinking the same thing. That cover still works for modern day Spider-Man. But, I will say, that I still love how dynamic and exciting the cover art still looks for Action Comics #1.

Seconded
