I grew up in Connecticut (fantastic public school system), went to college in Rhode Island (super liberal, got my abortion next day), spent a summer in Vermont (beautiful countryside, liberal near-utopia), spent five years in Colorado (pot legal, insanely progressive) and California (southern, progressive haven) and I

Why would they want to do that? Better education generally means less belief in the church. In fact, the Texas GOP specifically said in their platform on education that they opposed critical thinking.

can’t wait until someone tells her that she, too, will die like everyone else

1.It’s not a huge boost- $30 million in taxes-will have little effect on the day to day life of the city while month long street closures, transit delays, traffic and stretched services will

The GAME will be played in Santa Clara, because that’s where the stadium is. The bulk of the event’s impact, though, is in San Francisco, because nobody wants to spend any more time in Santa Clara than is absolutely necessary— so all the corporate boosterism baloney is happening in San Francisco.

Frisco? Frisco?

Don’t forget to mention that this is all being pushed on the residents of a city that isn’t even home to the actual Super Bowl. The SF politicians sold the city at no cost to the NFL and all costs to the city.

Except the superbowl is a game of football which is a violent sport used to placate the masses that takes over a city. And it does come with giant ads, just because they’re not as large as minority report doesn’t mean they’re not everywhere.

So you’re saying she can get things done because she is corrupt and Sanders is not.

The message suggests that mature, realistic, practical people, seeing that they may be unable to accomplish what they want, just give up. And thus, they achieve all their goals, by not having any. Or as Bart Simpson said, “Can’t win, don't try."

thinkpiece idea: “man who has been in congress for 20 years just doesn’t understand how congress works”

I just needed somewhere to post this.

This is the quintessential GG response. Well done for inadvertently demonstrating my warning. Now scurry away, little one.

Prayers shouldn’t work regardless. If prayers worked, we wouldn’t have free will.

I think it’s more like “thank you for taking the time to think positively about my family.” Or in other words,“thanks for trying.” Religious or not, if a stranger is taking a moment to concentrate on the healing of your father, whether prayer is bullshit or not, that’s very kind.

I’m not especially religious, but I take “I’m praying for you” as less “I’m praying for a magical cure for cancer” than “I’m praying that you and your loved one will find peace somehow and you’re in my thoughts and in my heart.”

Speaking from personal experience- I thank people for sincere offers of prayers. It’s not my thing, as I’m an atheist too, but if I want to be left alone to my own beliefs I can’t be a jerk to someone sincerely offering comfort in a way they know to give it.

Apparently she pretty much raised him for the first years of his life, Angie walked out and David was around but high on cocaine half the time. Daily Mail (so take it with a grain of salt) had a quote from Duncan about Skene, “I’ve always considered her as my mum, so I never felt I was missing out in any way.”

I’m guessing she did a lot to help raise him considering that David had custody of him from 9 on, and contact with his actual mother stopped at 13.

I teach 4th grade, and one of my kiddos asked if he could do sharing on Friday. He brought in his iPad and started to talk about his favorite singer who had recently died. He played “Let’s Dance” for the class and shared pictures that he found on the internet. It was the sweetest thing ever! Most of the class had no
